  • SauveTerre Prehistory Museum, in Sauveterre-la-Lémance : This museum plays with your senses, to make you explore prehistory through fun, creative and innovative experiences.
  • Archaeological Museum of Eysses, in Villeneuve sur Lot: The museum traces the life of the Eysse district, from the Gallo-Roman period to the present day. A trip from the ancient city of Excisum, then a stopover in the Benedictine abbey of the Middle Ages, to end with the daily life of Villeneuvois in the 19 th and 20 th centuries.
  • Bastides Museum in Monflanquin : Very modern, with models, sculptures and panels, it will allow you to understand the architectural interest of the bastide and its role in medieval society.
  • Château Musée Henri IV, in Nérac : The royal residence houses an exhibition dedicated to Henri IV, the Albret family and the Renaissance art of living, in this Navarre courtyard.

Museums on local life and culture

Museums on the life of yesteryear, ancestral know-how, objects or daily activities, such as ecomuseums, will allow you to get into the atmosphere of the culture of this territory.

  • Agen Museum of Fine Arts : Located in a group of mansions, it brings together more than 3000 works of art and renowned artists, such as Goya, Tintoretto, Corot...
  • Bernard Palissy Museum, in Lacapelle-Biron : It is a place of exhibition and sale of ceramics, for contemporary ceramists. It offers entertainment, a pottery fair and a space dedicated to the works of Bernard Palissy.

Museums on local gastronomy


One last essential category, in Gascon country and in the Lot valley : gastronomy of course! This terroir is rich in local specialties. We end in greed, with a tour of the sweets of Lot-et-Garonne.

  • Musée du foie gras, in Frespech : The visit begins with the Ferme de Souleilles. Then at the museum you will learn about the history of foie gras from the Egyptians to the present day, the principle of natural force-feeding in wild geese and work on the farm. You end with a tasting of goose products.
  • Maison de la Noisette, in Lacépède : On site, you can access a hazelnut market to learn about all the varieties, production techniques and products made from hazelnuts. Children can follow the " Rouxy investigation " or go for pony rides on the farm.
  • Musée-ferme du Pruneau, in Lafitte-sur-Lot : The real place of production of the famous “ prune d'Agenallows you to discover the species, culture and specialties made from prunes. For families, you can try his Dédal'Prune, a corn maze, with themed games and quizzes.

There is a twin ticket to visit the Musée du Foie Gras, the Maison de la Noisette and the Musée du Prune.



  • Chocolate Museum of the Rody Chocolate Factory, in Castillonnes : When a cocoa enthusiast shares his secrets with you, your ears and taste buds will be thrilled! It's a fun, interactive and creative space that awakens all your senses and ends with a tasting. You can even get your hands on… cocoa paste of course, by creating your own chocolate bar. A visit not to be missed for young and old alike.
  • Museum of the Bee, in Xaintrailles : It will reveal the mysterious world of bees to you. These insects produce nectar with wonderful properties, they are essential to our gardens and our agriculture. But we still don't know much about them. This is a good opportunity to get to know them better in order to better protect them.
