The gardens of the beautiful Marmande and the Val de Garonne

The " beautiful Marmande ", founded by Richard the Lionheart on the banks of the Garonne, has an inimitable charm. You will take bucolic and poetic walks there, along the water.  

The Gardens of the Cloister of Notre-Dame-de-Garonne are " French-style " gardens. They are made in the pure classical style of the ^17th century. You will see fine examples of topiary art there. Flowery and shaded, you will enjoy the walk as much as its religious architecture.

On the banks of the Garonne, the Parc de la Filhole is a family-friendly and well-equipped place. This wooded park has a play area, a picnic area, sanitary facilities. To please the whole family, you will also find a sports course, mini golf and many trails. At the bend of a path, lovers may come across the charming Jardin des Sources. You can extend the walk to the Garonne beach.

The Jardins de Beauchamp bring together different spaces to make you travel around the world: Japanese garden, palm grove… They are staged with landscaped or architectural arrangements. You go from a priest's garden to an undergrowth, from a patio to a labyrinth, adorned with bodies of water, ponds and fountains… These are private gardens, so the visit is not free. They are classified as “Remarkable Gardens”. We advise you to go there in the spring, during the flowering period. It is an exotic walk.

In Casteljaloux, south of the Val de Garonne, the Albret municipal park takes you back in time. In the center of this green space are the remains of a Renaissance castle and not just any… It housed Henri de Navarre, before he became our famous king Henri IV. This park is a reflection of this glorious medieval past and of the historic heart of Casteljaloux: large old trees, flowered alleys, old stones… No doubt you will fall under its spell!

In Bouglon, the Jardins de Montfleuri are aptly named. These English gardens bring together a multitude of flowers, creating a small paradise for butterflies and walkers. It is an awakening of the senses that awaits you there. Perfumes, colors and birdsong accompany you on this gentle walk.

The green spaces of Agen and the banks of the Garonne

Agen is crossed by both the Garonne and the Canal de Garonne. The city offers several green spaces to enjoy the freshness or play sports.

• The banks of the Garonne are accessible and offer beautiful walks. There you will find a fitness trail and a playground and landscaped trails. A portion hosts the Natural Reserve of Spawning Alose. It is therefore a preserved environment, which must be respected.
• The Garonne canal is bordered by a greenway where you can walk or cycle. It is shaded and at the water's edge. It is a refreshing place.
• The Gravier esplanade is located on the banks of the Garonne. This garden retains a somewhat old-fashioned charm, with its bandstand, fountain, lawns lined with flowers and its beautiful shaded path.
• The Square du Pin has been restored, respecting its soul of yesteryear. This typical ^19th century garden wraps around the statue of the Marseillaise. It has a very nice play area for children and its beautiful alleys allow everyone to move around quietly.
• Jayan, Chabaud, Labesque and Pompeyrie parks form islands of greenery in the heart of the city. You will find spaces there to relax with your family, with play areas for children.

The parks of the castles of the Lot Valley

In the Lot Valley, in Saint-Sylvestre-sur-Lot, Le Stelsia is a bit of a magical place! Entering this beautiful landscaped park, you enter a world of fairy tales. His plant sculptures will delight young and old alike. On site, you can enjoy the many activities and games, outdoors, and mini-golf.

The Château de Fumel gardens are formal gardens, classified as “ Remarkable Gardens ”. Installed on the terrace of the castle, you will have a beautiful panorama on the Lot. On the other side, you can admire the facade of the castle and some viewpoints over the town of Fumel. In the foreground, the beautiful lawns, lined with boxwood, surround a fountain. The wooded park extends opposite the terrace.

The Latour-Marliac water lily garden takes you into an aquatic and colorful world. The path leads you along the Ruisseau de l'Aze, passing through ponds, ponds and waterfalls, adorned with charming little bridges, a cave and shady paths. It is a calm place, conducive to relaxation and contemplation of the magnificent water lilies. The museum is also very informative on the history of the garden and the species it hosts.

Visit the Dropt valley through its gardens

The gardens of Boissonna are located in Baleyssagues, not far from Duras, in the Pays du Dropt. These are very poetic, English-style gardens. The general atmosphere is very soft, in pastel tones. We could call them a rose garden, but you will also appreciate its delicate grasses. Its ancient trees also deserve to linger in these “ Remarkable Gardens ”. On site, do not miss to taste some sweets, in its tea room.

Le Jardin de Mireille is located in Auriac sur Dropt. It is the ideal place for lovers of roses, old varieties and all origins and colours. They are highlighted in beds, decorated with perennials and other trees and shrubs of all kinds. We stroll on lawned spaces to appreciate these beauties, come to the flowering period! Le Jardin de Mireille opens in April and the visit is at a very low price, you have to call ahead.

Stroll through the vineyards of the Albret wine estates

L'Albret is renowned for its wine terroir. In the region, you will enjoy a romantic stroll in what is called " little Tuscany ", through the vineyards, or along the greenway of the Canal du Midi. A walk in the heart of the vineyards is a must!

For a change of atmosphere, the Parc du Moulin des Tours is a wooded area on the banks of the Gélise river. It will allow you to extend your visit to Barbaste, famous for its Moulin des Tours or Moulin Henri IV and its Romanesque bridge.
